Multimedia Method Samples

Everything that will be discussed is organized in a user-friendly way.

The following screencaps were taken from one of the CD-ROMS that will be used for ENGLISH. All the other foreign languages such as French, Spanish, Japanese, German etc. are all organized in a very similar way.

SIMULATED CONVERSATIONS SHOWN IN THE SCREENCAPS AND THE VIDEO BELOW WILL EXPOSE THE STUDENTS NOT ONLY TO THE TEACHER'S SPEECH QUALITY BUT ALSO TO OTHER NATIVE SPEAKERS OF THE LANGUAGE.

This is very important because IN REAL LIFE, DIFFERENT INDIVIDUALS HAVE VARYING VOICE QUALITY, PITCH and SPEECH PATTERNS that the students have to get used to in able to understand them.

Most language schools do not use inter-active CD-ROMs or multimedia files featuring different native speakers. As a result, most of their students do not understand some native speakers particularly those who speak fast or when they listen to them on the radio, watch movies and especially those that they encounter in person.

Another very important main feature of the multimedia method not found in other language schools' curriculum is the INTER-ACTIVE PERSONALIZED PROGRESS TRACKER. Each student has a personal file with a progress tracker which allows them to track what they have learned so far and what else they need to learn to achieve their goal.

The student can bring home the MULTIMEDIA FILES with them, i.e. they will be SHARED (not SOLD) to the students' cellphones and/or laptop through USB transfer.

"THE BEST WAY TO LEARN A NEW LANGUAGE IS TO EXPERIENCE IT IN REAL-LIFE ACTION."

Learning a new language requires memorization of new words, phrases and grammatical rules which can sometimes be tedious and boring.

But with the MULTIMEDIA METHOD, you'll MEMORIZE foreign words more effectively because you will EXPERIENCE USING IT right away while having FUN! You can OPT* to re-enact certain dialogues simulating real-life situations (such as video snippets from movies or TV shows) using your personal information instead of the cast's/characters'.

This is an optional feature of the multimedia method but is very highly recommended.

You can OPT* to be recorded on video so you'll be able to compare the ORIGINAL VERSION with your 'personalized version'. The trainer may also use the screen caps, i.e. images from the video, to create a COMIC STRIP (manga style).

All the files will be shared to you through USB transfer. The audio OR video recording devices are all provided by the instructor.

*VIDEO-RECORDING of dialogues is optional. For shy people, we can just record their voices and they can just 'DUB' the videos with their voices.

Here are some samples of teaching materials used in the multimedia method. Notice that these images and video clips are easier to remember, especially if you yourself re-enact it and record yourself doing it with your own personal information.

FRENCH

TOPIC : INTRODUCING YOURSELF

WATCH THE VIDEO BELOW:

Jordy's rate of speech is fast which is the normal rate of native speakers. But don't worry, each word and phrase will be dealt with just like 'Je m'appelle ...' below. The instructor will also enunciate it slowly first before saying it in a normal rate (FAST).

Watch the video clip below:

YOUR TURN:

TOPIC: BASIC HIGH-FREQUENCY EXPRESSIONS part I:

FRENCH IN ACTION {IN REALISTIC SITUATIONS}

The students will be trained to mimic the native speakers' pronunciation and accent and will be recorded. Then they will be asked to re-enact the dialogues containing essential phrases. They can opt to use their personal information instead of the characters'.

WATCH THE VIDEO CLIP BELOW TO BE ABLE TO ANSWER THE 'WORKSHEET' ABOVE:

NOTE: MULTIMEDIA FILES such as videos, mp3s, games, etc. will be shared through USB transfer and are NOT for SALE. (peer-to-peer sharing)

There is a quick recording portion at the end of each session which will serve as a QUICK REVIEW of the ESSENTIAL EXPRESSIONS, WORDS and grammatical points that MUST BE REMEMBERED by the trainees.

IN ORDER TO IMMERSE THE STUDENT IN THE TARGET LANGUAGE, the trainer can also guide the trainees in making friends, i.e. in cyberspace and in real life, and socializing using the newly acquired language as well as give them tips to make good use of the internet in order to be fluent in their preferred language.

The audio/video files will be shared through USB to the trainees.

SAMPLE WORK SHEET:

AFTER THE DISCUSSION OF BASIC PHRASES, STUDENTS WILL BE ASKED TO ANSWER WORKSHEETS SUCH AS THE ONES SHOWN IN THE SCREEN CAPS BELOW:
